Firth Park Academy is a larger-than-average-sized secondary school located in the North East of Sheffield. The Academy is a specialist Academy for the arts and is the lead extended school for Sheffield. Firth Park Academy has gained national recognition through a range of awards including Artsmark Gold, Global Schools, Healthy School status, Careers Education Quality Kitemark, Quality in Study Support and Investors in People (Gold level). It was recognised as a National College Development School in 2009.

Firth Park is a Specialist Performing Arts school and thus all students study Music, Drama and Dance in Key Stage three. In the Year 10 they can opt for further studies in BTECs and GCSEs and many students further their studies in the Arts at the end of Year 11. The school offers a rich and varied enrichment programme in the Arts and students can take part in classes at lunchtime and after school. Clubs include Dance, Bands, Instrumental Lessons, Drama groups, Glee and Community Theatre.

A variety of professionals visit the school to run workshops and the Sound System programme runs for the very able students in Music. Students are encouraged to perform on a regular basis both in the classroom and after school and there are a variety of showcase events throughout the year and an annual school production. Students are encouraged to visit other schools and venues to take part in workshops and watch performances, and Arts Award students and Dance Leaders run workshops in the community for primary and Firth Park students.

Firth Park Community Academy is Sheffield’s lead Extended School. By working together in partnership with parents, families and the wider community we aim to ensure that the school is an important resource for all of the community
