Nightingale Academy is part of London Academies Enterprise Trust (LAET) sponsored by Academies Enterprise Trust (AET) and the Greater London Authority (GLA) and was one of the first Mayor's Academies in London.    We were established as an academy in 2010.

Nightingale has set high expectations and our academy is improving rapidly.  Our mission is to create a thriving and busy school, where all students are motivated and inspired to participate creatively in a supportive and safe environment, achieving at all levels; with staff working towards a common goal to produce well rounded individuals and deliver a first class education in the area of PE. 

The PE Department enjoys a strong reputation within the school. We have state of the art PE facilities which include, a full size sports hall, dance studio, fully furnished fitness suite and studio, a floodlit full size all weather Multi Use Games Area, 3G floodlight pitch for football, rugby, and cricket.

We are looking for an outstanding Head of PE to join a team of supportive and experienced teachers in a very successful PE department, with excellent results. There will be a requirement to commit to extra-curricular activities including after school clubs and matches. 

You will: 

  • Lead and manage the PE department within the academy. 
  • Lead and manage the teaching, learning and work of the PE department to ensure the highest possible levels of achievement 
  • Be able to teach outstanding PE lessons across the full age and ability range, and be able to contribute to our extensive range of theory based subjects
  • Be a team player, able to communicate the love of the subject to students and be highly committed to their role. 
  • Be able to inspire and motivate all students to learn and achieve
  • Be flexible and adaptable to fit in with the demands of our academy 
  • Be an enthusiastic team member with good communication and interpersonal skills 
  •  Actively support our values 
  •  Be an outstanding classroom practitioner with high expectations of work, attitude and behaviour
